The developers of Standoff 2 have presented a large-scale update that radically expands the gaming experience. The central element is the innovative “Beholder Games” mode – a unique concept that combines ten different game mechanics in one format.
Mechanics of the new regime
Participants complete a series of five carefully selected challenges. The scoring system is based on the accumulation of victory points. The player with the highest score is declared the winner.
Detailed analysis of the tests
- The Stop-Run mode tests reaction. Participants must reach the finish line moving only on the green light. The slightest movement on the red light leads to elimination.
- The Laser Room tests your precision. You move through a complex of laser beams, avoiding any contact. One touch means you fail the test.
- “Blast Islands” combines platforming with survival elements. Participants jump between platforms, avoiding explosions that occur at certain intervals.
- The Parkour challenge focuses on balance and coordination. You navigate narrow platforms at considerable heights. Falling eliminates you from the competition.
- “Labyrinth” tests navigation skills. Participants must find the only way out of a complex structure of corridors in a limited time.
- “Ghost Platforms” add an element of uncertainty, with players navigating invisible surfaces using intuition and memory.
- Hidden Targets tests accuracy and attentiveness. Participants find ten camouflaged targets and hit each one with a precise shot.
- “Grenade Battle” is a tactical battle where you will throw explosives through barriers to eliminate your opponents.
- “Bridge-Illusion” tests your analytical skills. You need to determine which platforms will support your weight among many false options.
- The final challenge, “Every Man for Himself,” returns to classic combat. The goal is to achieve twenty eliminations of opponents.
Technical improvements
The surround sound system has received significant improvements. Now you can more accurately identify the sources of sound effects in three-dimensional space.
The sensitivity settings have a new smoothing option. You can fine-tune or disable this feature entirely to suit your personal preferences.
Battle Pass Gambit
The new Battle Pass includes 45 levels of progression. The design is inspired by the ancient civilizations of the Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs. Thematic items reflect the mystical atmosphere of Beholder.
The collection includes a unique mask, an exclusive emblem, and a personalized Deagle. The main prize is six pairs of gloves, including a rare “White Camo” variant.
VAL “Orbit” Special Skin
The developers created a unique design for the VAL rifle in honor of the Cosmo Major tournament. Part of the proceeds from sales goes to the teams participating in the tournament, supporting the eSports community.
User interface modernization
The market sorting system has received additional filters for containers. The mechanics of putting items up for sale have been simplified to improve ease of use.
Visual improvements
Graphic effects on maps have been significantly improved at high quality settings. Particular attention has been paid to the realism of vegetation, water surfaces and window reflections.
Animation adjustments
The development team created a new skeleton for the character to fix issues with the left shoulder. Animation sequences have received adjustments that will be implemented in the Kitsune Dreams update.
Additional optimizations
Purchase time is no longer reduced when a match is paused. Confirmation windows have been added to the round restart and pause functions to prevent accidental activations.
The auto-purchase system in the weapons store has been improved for more intuitive use. Errors in displaying player death times and clan names have been fixed, increasing the overall stability of the gameplay.
